Kitten & Dog Sleepy Cuddles
(***Keep reading to see your cuteness overload pictures of the day 🙂 )
Mini is a bit picking about people and other animals. To be honest, there are few that she likes.
She is fine with everyone who lives in our house; more than fine, she shows she loves all of us. She adores my youngest daughter. She loves to be pet, held, and to have us play with her. Mini always likes one of my granddaughters, likes a couple of my other grandchildren some times.
As for animals, Mini doesn’t really like them. The exception to her dislike of other animals is Will. As long as they leave her alone, for the most part, she just ignores the other animals. Things are different between Mini & Will. It’s really not unusual to see these two rubbing each other or even laying down together. I find this funny because Will is our temperamental cat and can be quite moody.
With Mini’s history of not being a fan of animals, other than Will, we were wondering how things would work when Keanu and Malie joined the household. Mini sleeps on my youngest daughter’s bed. Keanu and Malie sleep in her room, too. Typically, Mini does not like the other animals to be in my daughter’s room, so we were relieved to see she at least accepted the new kittens being in there. My daughter, had high hopes of Mini and the kittens becoming friends.
Shortly after the kittens moved in, we found out that Malie has no concept that other animals may not like her. I believe this worked for her, thankfully. She saw Mini curled up, sleeping. Remember, Malie started out being our sleepy kitten. She went right over to Mini and laid down to sleep. Nervous moment. Mini looked at her and made a bit of a noise. My daughter immediately told her no and started petting Mini. Mini appeared to consider what to do. Malie just went to sleep and never noticed anything. Within a minute or two, Mini relaxed and went to sleep. Shoo, so far so good.
(***Just a little further to get to those total cuteness pictures!)
A little while later, Mini got up to get a drink of water. Malie stayed curled up, sleeping. Being as they had been in one of Mini’s napping spots, we were curious to see what would happen. Mini went back to the spot and Malie was still there.
Mini has a habit of doing what we refer to as fluffing or softening the spot she lays on. Softening it involves, vigorously making what looks like digging movements with her front legs. By the way, this has resulted in pillows being destroyed because she decided to fluff them to sleep on.
Mini hopped right up in the spot and started her vigorous fluffing routine. Just as I thought I should move Malie since she was so tiny and laying there, we realized that Mini was actually being careful around her! She was fluffing just as crazy as ever, but being careful to avoid the spot Malie was sleeping in. As soon as she was done, Mini laid down next to Malie! Shoo, still going good.
One morning my daughter tells me that she has a picture she needs to show me. Actually a few, because she ended up taking a few pictures to what she saw in her bed that day. Cuteness overload! Mini & Malie, curled up, under a blanket sleeping together!
Shoo! It is all good! It is now common for Mini and Malie to be found sleeping next to each other. My daughter is thrilled!
