Dog Hairballs… Eww

This is not a pleasant subject. In fact, it is gross. But, if you have pets in your home, it is something that you will likely have to face and deal with; like it or not.

I often hear of people talking about having to deal with hairballs with their cats.

I have two cats, Will and Grace. Yes, I occasionally find the unpleasant gift of a coughed up hairball from them. They are long haired and spend a lot of time grooming themselves, so that is not too surprising. Thankfully, these occasions are rare with Will and Grace.

Maybe I have been lucky. I never really saw dogs coughing up hairballs, well, that is until Buxton joined the family.

Oh my, I think Buxton coughs and hacks up more than a clowder of cats. To make matters worse, remember Buxton is a big boy with a lot of fur.

Naturally, Buxton has a favorite place to do his unpleasant hacking; my room.

I have tried dealing with this with brushing. It did not help.

Now, I have resorted to trying to keep his long, thick fur trimmed relatively short. So far, the hairball problem has decreased, but he still occasionally leaves me a gross present in my floor.

Between brushing and keeping his fur trimmed shorter, I really hope to solve this problem. I guess time will tell.
