Who Is Buxton?

Buxton was the puppy of a Golden Retriever and a full sized Poodle, so he is referred to as a Goldendoodle.

January 2013 was part of an extended bad period of my life. My dad had a massive stroke the prior November which in turn, resulted in acceleration of his dementia. At that time he was in a facility about 45 minutes from my home and we still had hope that maybe he would improve. The winter weather, daily (once or twice a day) trips back and forth to be with my dad, and round the clock phones calls were all taking a toll on me.

Then one day, feeling sad after a visit with my dad, I met Buxton. Okay, he is a Goldendoodle, so he wasn’t tiny as far as size. Being as he was just over 2 months old, he was still a baby; a puppy. I found out that this pup needed a home.

He looked up at me with those big, goofy eyes. Sigh….

I fell for him. He needed a home and a home is what he got.

Buxton is now 2 years old. My goodness, at times I have to remind myself that he is a dog, not a horse. He does not realize just how big he really is and still thinks he is just a puppy. He actually thinks he is a lap dog, even though he in no way will fit on anyone’s lap. 🙂

I never know what Buxton will do next.
